Grilled, But Not Forgotten
BBQ Day is no more.
JVG has decided to end BBQ Day for good. The event has taken on iconic status over the years – it will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
BBQ Day started at the old Triple R Rooftop in 2002, before moving down to CERES in 2004 where it was held every year since (except for the memorable exception in 2014 when it was moved to the RRR Performance Space in heavy rain).
Thank you to everyone who has made it such a special day.
Huge thanks to JVG, Ian Bland and the amazing regular crew and the MBO (Melbourne BBQ Orchestra) for all of the work they have put in: Dan Warner, Dave Evans, Ed Bates, Nathan Farrelly, Matt Earl, Dr Pump, Marcel Borrack, Dan Hall, Adam Simmons, Sarah Carroll, Suzannah Espie, Kerri Simpson, Jane Hendry, Holly Joyce, George Wilson, Steve Temple, Peter Farnan, Casey Bennetto ... the list goes on and on, too many names to mention, so many amazing performers over so many years.
Huge thanks also to Cam and Matt from Eat It for all the outdoor cooking adventures.
Thanks to all of the presenters who have been in the 1pm Sunday timeslot and taken part: Digger, Olive and Laurel (Dirty Deeds); Gez, Kate and Anne (The Downlow); Bushy, Adam, Kate, Sarah and Jed (Greening The Apocalypse); The Spin team; and most recently Neil, Rachael and Paul (Still Here).
Thanks to CERES, Brunswick East Primary School, all of our volunteers and staff who have donated so much of their time to the cause, Mountain Goat and Provenance Wines for their support, our passionate photographers and so many punters for making it a special day every year.
There are no plans for an equivalent event in 2020, but Triple R hopes to have a new event to take its place in 2021.
