'When I Get Home' is the latest album from acclaimed American artist Solange, the follow-up to 2016's A Seat at the Table.
It was released by surprise just after Midnight on March 1, as Black History Month became National Women's History Month. The songs reflects deeply on issues of identity and home, looking at the present with a long view of the past.
Numerous references to Solange's hometown of Houston feature in the lyrics, along with messages of empowerment and self-determination. Songs are described by the artist as having "a lot of jazz at the core...but with electronic and hip hop drum and bass because I want it to bang and make your trunk rattle."
Joining Solange on the album is an impressive cast of collaborators, including Tyler, the Creator, Gucci Mane, Playboi Carti, Devin The Dude, Panda Bear, Metro Boomin, Cassie, Earl Sweatshirt, Steve Lacy, Abra, and Dev Hynes.
