SOS is the anticipated second LP from psychedelic group Nice Biscuit. It extends their signature fuzzy, rhythmic style with new influences, from disco to jazz fusion.
Throughout the album Nice Biscuit reflects on the weight of global crises, channeling hope and gratitude to anger and apathy. Songs respond to these turbulent times, seeking clarity and calm amidst chaos.
'The Star' is the tarot-inspired opener, a propulsive groove with melodic choruses focused on healing after hardship. 'Love That Takes You Up' continues with disco-inspired basslines and jangly jazz guitars, the result pf spontaneous jam sessions where band members swapped instruments.
At the heart of the album, the title track 'SOS' slows the tempo for self-reflection, echoing influences from bands like Kikagaku Moyo. And all across the record Nice Biscuit bring a distinctive mix of analogue synthesizers, vintage drum machines, and layered guitar effects to produce an immersive, and moving experience.
