Ariel Pink is an extremely prolific and unique artist, and this latest record is a testament to his continuing inventiveness, humour and skill. 'Mature Themes' presents a distinctive reimagining of lo-fi psychedelic music and experimental rock; it contains both a damaged art-pop dedication to Ariel Pink’s regular schnitzel order (‘lettuce tomato and onions only please’) as well as a subdued, soulful cover of Donnie and Joe Emerson’s Baby, until very recently a lost bedroom-studio soul ballad from the late 70s.
