On 'Kill For Love' Portland band Chromatics have crafted an exceptional album with a distinct aesthetic, one drawn from a rich palette of pop history and cinematic soundscapes. The earliest incarnation of the band found inspiration in new wave and punk reference points, and there is definitely something of the spirit and edge of those movements to be found in these latest recordings. In the intervening years Chromatics have also developed a great affinity for and understanding of analogue synth sounds and hazy Italo-disco styles. In melding these disparate influences Chromatics here present a beguiling, eerie, and original musical statement.
