One of the most standout trumpet players in Melbourne, or the world for that matter, is the wonderful Eugene Ball. Founding member of legendary Australian jazz ensembles such as the Andrea Keller Quartet, the Allan Browne Quintet, the Australian Art Orchestra and the Hoodangers, Eugene is a both leader on his instrument and in the field of improvised music.Strongly influenced by the New Orleans tradition, he nevertheless reinvents his homages to the great players of the 20's, 30's and beyond in a thoroughly modern, unique and Melbourne way.
