The Cartridge Family – Live in Person! Album launch.

Melbourne’s hillbilly hipsters of harmony are proud to announce the release of their third full length album, “The Cartridge Family – Live in Person!”.

While giving a sincere musical nod to early country groups like The Carter Family and The Delmore Brothers, The Cartridge Family have developed their old time country style and their gorgeous three part harmonies into a truly unique sound.

Sarah Carroll on guitar, ukulele and vocals adds both a beautiful energy and smart-mouthed sass to the group as she sings songs like ‘Grandpa Loved the Pixies’ and ‘School of Country Music’.

Acclaimed alt-country performer, Suzannah Espie brings her strong yet soulful voice and formidable mandolin skills to the party. Her stunning lead vocals on ‘Another Place Another Time’ and the beautiful ‘Somewhere I Can Hear the Birds’ are pure joy.

Double bassist Rusty Berther, formerly of comedy duo The Scared Weird Little Guys has penned most of the tracks on the album, utilising his witty word skills to bring us mirthful songs like ‘Megan The Vegan’, ‘Bad Tambourine’ and the crowd favourite ‘Ain’t No Babies Named Gordon No More’

Fiddle virtuoso Greg Field, drum marvel Jack O’Dell and Telecaster riffmeister Nicky Del Rey add their considerable musical chops to the 14 original songs that make up the album.

The ‘Great' Brunswick Ballroom Rhythm and Blues Revue. 2024

After a fabulous event last year, the Brunswick Ballroom Rhythm and Blues Revue is on again.

Blues Bus and its esteemed Guests in association with the Brunswick Ballroom is bringing together a revue that will get you moving and grooving playing all their favourite songs for you.

Each member of the band has brought their own interpretation and reading of songs they hold close to their hearts and forms the background to their musical passion and performance.

The “You Got to Move” Revue is a one-time experience with a fabulous ensemble band.

Bob Thorne, as the founder of Blues Bus and a stunning guitarist and songwriter, shows us that it all comes back to the origins of rhythm and blues that has fuelled his musical passion now for a lifetime.

Roger Nelson with his passion for melodic harmonica lines and baritone vocals brings to light the eclectic influences on his unique style.

Chris Wilson with his encyclopaedic repertoire has found himself coming back to blues standards that are his anchor point in giving us that wicked combination of keys and vocals.

Ash Gaudian with his heritage of swing and jazz brings it all down to stunning readings of sax saturated foot tapping numbers that have influenced his craft.

Benita Evans with her powerful and rich vocals brings to life rhythm and blues songs as you never heard before.

The irrepressible Tommy McEwan as not only one of our scenes most esteemed drummers but also has a powerful presence as a lead singer with his astounding vocals and guitar work.

He collaborates seamlessly with John Manby on bass and as the rhythm section that knows how to anchor all this energy into a full tilt exhibition of passion and virtuosity.

This means the Brunswick Ballroom Rhythm and Blues Review will be a wonderful night of big songs with outstanding performance.
