For one night only, join Ricky Albeck & the Belair Line Band, Cat Scratch and Hard Rubbish at the Cactus room for an evening of folk, country and wistful insights into the confusion of the everyday.
Ricky Albeck: Ricky and his Belair Line Band will bring their signature 'Post Pub Rock' on November 23rd. Hailing from Adelaide but meandering east occasionally Ricky has built up a reputation for soulful heartfelt country songwriting with a strong dose of rock and roll.
Not too long ago he released his critically acclaimed debut album 'Nocturnal', touring it nationally.
CAT SCRATCH: Jack and Dylan decided to write songs together, every decision a democracy, and out came the LP ‘Everything Is Boring’. They named the project Cat Scratch, which was suggested by a friend as an example of a terrible band name.
Each song was written in one day, and then recorded in one day in a tiny room above a kebab shop. One feels the senses of joy and friendship that litter these songs that explore themes of love, pie, dogs and roses - all through an alternative rock and roll, jangle, singer-songwriter filter. Shelby and George help bring these tunes to life with their furious strumming and careful picking.

HARD RUBBISH:
Hard Rubbish is the solo-project of travelling musician Jason Katsaras, whose written works are deeply personal, sparse and separate – a memoir to his relationships, past and present, garnered during his journeys through Australia in the last few years. Katsaras’ formative challenges experienced throughout everyday life - from bar work to love lost and finding one's place - colour each of his compositions with haunting imagery and the rugged lyrical themes of contemporary Australian rock music. Even after his time living and working in North Queensland, Katsaras’ sound is yet to shift too wayward towards the bush, with “16 Walls” maintaining a recognisable suburban tinge through its monotonous vocals and cyclical chord progressions.
