Banksia: Janty Blair on comedy practice and the Aboriginal Comedy All Stars

Proud Butchulla, Mununjhali and Woppaburra woman and comedian Janty Blair joined Vanessa Morris to talk all about their comedy practice and performing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

After spending three decades as a nurse and midwife and starting stand-up comedy at 57, which she refers to as her third act in life, Janty came up the comedy ranks winning the Deadly Funny competition in 2022, and has since performed around Australia and at Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Janty performed with the Aboriginal Comedy All Stars alongside Andy Saunders, Jay Wymarra, Sean Choolburra, Kevin Kropinyeri and Elaine Crombie, and at the Deadly Funny National Grand Final.

Janty is performing next at the Brisbane Comedy Festival with the Aboriginal Comedy All Stars from the 2 - 5 May and in Naarm for the Winter Solstice Dark Cabaret with Jex Lopez and Janty Blair on 22 June.
